Slum Beautiful explores the relationship between Black identity and the environments that shape it. Greene's paintings examine neighborhoods often defined through absence or deficit, instead locating beauty in the ordinary rhythms of daily life. Porches, sidewalks, fences, parked cars, and backyards become sites where memory, aspiration, vulnerability, and belonging converge.

Drawing from personal experience and lived observation, Greene presents these spaces as repositories of care and history rather than symbols of neglect.
